Organizing Homeschool Lessons
Today's tip has been a life saver for me! OK maybe not "life saving" but extremely helpful! I don't use any one set of curriculum for our schooling. I pick and choose from the different curriculum I like and put together my own. I will share some of my favorites in a later post.
With 2 preschoolers, a second grader, and a 4th grader trying to keep track of lessons and grades can become overwhelming. I have tried large binders to organize, but I am a techie girl and wanted something that would allow me more ease of use.
While doing a google search on organizing lesson plans, I stumbled across http://www.homeschooltracker.com. WOW! I was in love! This made life so simple! All my grades and lesson plans where in one place, and it was free! Of course one of our family motto's is "If it is free, it is OK with me!" So I downloaded the free version and began adding all our information into it. I used this for a whole year, and really loved it.
There were still a few things I thought could be done better, so I finally broke down and bought the upgraded version. This has made all the difference in our homeschooling.
I am sure there may be other programs out there that do the same thing, but this one is exactly what I had been looking for. I can put all my kids lesson plans into it, and see a day, week or month schedule. I can keep attendance for each child, put grades for each lesson, and even break up lessons over several days. I can catalog all of our books in the library and easily look to see what we have, and where it is located or if I have loaned it out. I can even put my children's chores or other appointments on the schedule! It does so much more, there are parts of it I haven't even explored yet, and I have had it for almost 3 years now!
The biggest problem with this software is that you have to actually use it for it to work. :) Take a peek, you won't be disappointed!
P.S. I have been using this software for 3 years now and still love it every bit as much as when I first got it!
